Assessment
levels
· AL 3 for all sub-classes except:
- AL 4 for Vocational Education and Training (572); and
- AL 2 for AUSAID and Defence (576).
IELTS Results - Mandatory(International English Language Testing
System)
· IELTS results must be sent with visa application.
· IELTS test conducted not more than 24 months before date of
application.
Financial evidence
· Tuition costs - full program or 1 year - by subclass.
· Living costs of AUD12,000 pa .
· Travel Costs.
IF MARRIED AND/OR DEPENDENTS:
· Spouse - add AUD4,200pa.
· 1st child - add further AUD2,400 + AUD8000pa schooling if of
school age (any child turning 5).
· Additional children – AUD1,800 + AUD8000pa schooling.
Financial Sponsors
An “acceptable individual” means one or
more of the following:
(a) the applicant;
(b) the applicant’s spouse;
(c) the applicant’s parents;
(d) the applicant’s grandparents;
(e) the applicant’s brothers and sisters.
(f) an uncle or an aunt who is an Australian citizen, an Australian
permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen and is usually
resident in Australia.
Acceptable Funds
· Must be money deposits held with a registered guaranteed financial
institution. (The www.indiaembassy.com lists financial institutions
that are acceptable in India).
Loans
· Loan must be from an acceptable financial institution and must be fully
sanctioned.
· Details of the collateral for loan and its owner should be mentioned
in the loan letter.
· Income of sponsor being 22% of loan amount to cover default
on the loan.
Provident Funds
· Group Provident Funds are acceptable IF annual
GPF statement is provided along with a certificate that clearly states
amount available for withdrawal and the purpose.
· Withdrawal limits for Public Provident Funds:
If held 15+ yrs, total balance;
If held 6+ yrs, 50% of balance held 3 yrs prior;
If held 3+ yrs, loan for up to 25% of balance held at 3 yr point.
· Letter from bank giving start date and withdrawal amounts or
passbooks.
Post Office Deposits
· Acceptable - Includes Savings account, Monthly Income Schemes
(after 1 year), Recurring Deposits (after 3 years).
Overseas Funds
· No need to transfer funds to India.
· All assessed on their merits.
· If in doubt about the financial institution contact AHC.
Joint Accounts
· Joint accounts are acceptable if both/all account holders
are eligible sponsors for that visa sub-class.
· Details of account holders to be shown.
Corporate Sponsorship
· Corporate accounts must be owned solely by acceptable sponsors
for visa sub-class.
· Public LTD companies must be operating in the international
arena.
· Applicant is required to be employed by the corporate sponsor.
· For partnership/private companies, must provide affidavit of
support from all partners and copy of memorandum of understanding/partnership
deed listing partners/directors.
Timing
· Applications should be lodged at the AHC at least 6 weeks prior to
course commencement.
· The commencement of the course is the date orientation starts. Applications
should not be lodged after course has commenced, with extension letters
from the University.
· The AHC requires 6-12 weeks to process an application.
Deferrals
· Visa granted in time and applicant does not travel – No deferral
allowed and applicant needs to lodge a fresh application (visa will
be cancelled);
· PVA/MEDS issued in time and the required documents (medicals and coe)
are not submitted by the applicant – No deferral allowed and application
may end up in a refusal;
· PVA/MEDS delayed (other circumstances- beyond applicant’s control)
– deferral accepted for 1 semester.
Guardianship
Arrangements
Under 18 must provide evidence of suitable guardianship arrangements
- PIC 4012A .
Applicants must:
· Intend to reside in Australia with a person who:
(a) is a parent or custodian; or
(b) is a relative and is nominated by a parent or custodian of the applicant;
and is
- aged at least 21; and
- of good character; or
· Provides a signed statement from the education provider confirming
appropriate arrangements have been made for applicant’s accommodation,
support and welfare.
· The parent/guardian will be residing lawfully in Australia.
· Guardian must be of good character- must provide police clearance
for each country of residence for 1 year or more in the last 10 years.
Visa
Conditions - Automatic Visa Cancellation
· Students will have their visas cancelled automatically if
they do not abide by the visa conditions.
· A data link is maintained between application, grant, arrival,
enrolment, course completion and departure; this information includes
agent information.
· Adequate health insurance must be taken.
· Study limited for members of family unit.
· Mandatory condition requiring students to continue to satisfy
all visa requirements.
